"Glyph" comes from the Greek verb which means "carving".

Selected Images

The starting point were 35mm color film negatives found in the street. The subjects were a by gone Christmas with children now grown and photographed on film no longer made. The film also had marks made by people and their transports as it lay on the asphalt pressed upon by shoe and tire. The marks or "carvings" became a unintended record of movement within the city.

The film was then scanned and the carvings became a recurring motif, subject to color and tone changes. Some of the images recall ice crystals, Chinese pen and ink work, Japanese woodblocks, poster designs of the late 1960's Haight Ashbury and glazes of English, American and Chinese ceramics.
